CLASSES/WORKSHOPS

Elderhostel Program at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, opens registration for Hawai'i residents and visitors, 55 years or older, for three sessions: Oct. 28-Nov. 3, Feb. 10-16, 2002 and March 10-16, 2002. Program includes gallery talks, slide lectures and field trips focusing on art of Asia and the Pacific. $400 fee for residents covers meals, lectures, field trips, etc. but not accommodations; $658 for nonresidents or those needing accommodations. 532-3666.

DOCENT TRAINING

The Bishop Museum trains volunteer guides. The 10-week classes teach Hawaiian culture and the history of the museum's artifacts. Tuition is $300 with some assistance available. Call for information: 848-4180.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts conducts interviews for Japanese speakers interested in training as docents. Applicants must speak English and Japanese fluently and have an interest in art and culture. Call for an application: 532-3666.
