Home invaders escape with purse

Police today were searching for three men who invaded a Pearl City home and robbed the occupants at gunpoint.

Police said three men entered a Maiha Circle home at 5:50 a.m. today looking for someone. One of the intruders had a gun.

The intruders, who were confronted by three men inside the home, fled with a woman's purse. No one was injured in the robbery, police said.


Suspect held in Waikiki stabbing

Police have opened a second-degree attempted murder investigation after a 19-year-old man allegedly stabbed another man in Waikiki yesterday morning.

According to police, the two men fought inside The Cellar, at 205 Lewers St., at about 3:50 a.m. While the two were being escorted out, the assailant pulled a 3 1/2-inch knife and stabbed the 23-year-old man in the stomach. A witness grabbed the knife from the assailant, who fled.

The assailant was found hiding in the bushes nearby and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder. The injured man was in satisfactory condition at the Queen's Medical Center, police said.


Man arrested in Kalihi attack

Police arrested a 40-year-old man after he allegedly attacked his wife, tried to smother her with a towel and chased her with a knife last night in a Kalihi home.

According to police, the man got into an argument with his 37-year-old wife and allegedly tried to smother her.

The woman escaped and ran to a relative's house while her husband chased her with a knife. Police arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree attempted assault, first-degree terroristic threatening and abuse of a household member.


Video-game store robber sought

Police today were searching for a man who robbed an Ala Moana Center video-game store and stole the store's surveillance videotape Saturday night.

According to police, a 37-year-old store employee closed the Jungle Fun store at about 10:25 p.m. and went to the store's office.

At about 10:30 p.m., he saw a man standing at the end of a counter next to the office. The man wore a red bandanna over the lower part of his face and carried an 8-inch knife.

The intruder ordered the employee to open the safe. The employee complied and the robber took the money and put it in a plastic bag. The robber then demanded and was given the surveillance videotape from the office.


Hale'iwa man charged in attack

Police have charged a 21-year-old Hale'iwa man who they said stabbed another man during an argument Thursday night on the North Shore.

Dino Kauai was charged with second-degree attempted murder on Saturday, police said. His bail was set at $50,000.

According to police, the stabbing occurred at 10:55 p.m. when Kauai and his 17-year-old brother got into an argument with a 23-year-old man at a Hale'iwa Road home. The older brother allegedly stabbed the man in the ribs, police said.
