CANCELED OR POSTPONED
The keynote address by Jeff Hoke, director of Minnesota's Mall of America, to the annual conference of the RETAIL MERCHANTS OF HAWAI'I has been canceled. The conference, "The Great Retail Adventure," is still scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Coral Ballroom.
The INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EXPOSITION AND CONFERENCE originally planned for last week at the Hawai'i Convention Center is rescheduled for Dec. 5 and 6. Information: (503) 670-6739.
The 2001 Hi-Technology Summit, which had been scheduled for Sept. 12 by the HAWAI'I TECHNOLOGY TRADE ASSOCIATION, has been rescheduled for Oct. 3 in the 20th-floor conference room of Ali'i Place, 1099 Alakea St., with registration at 7:30 a.m. (Previous reservations will be honored.) The short- and long-term effects of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks will be discussed at a public forum sponsored in part by the PACIFIC AND ASIAN AFFAIRS COUNCIL. The free forum, "Terrorism on Our Shores, Reflections and Analysis in the Aftermath," is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Punahou School's Wo International Center. The Wo center and East-West Center are co-sponsors. The panel, moderated by U.S. District Judge Helen Gillmore, will consist of EWC President Charles Morrison; Ibrahim Aoude, ethnic studies professor at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa; Alvin Adams, former principal deputy to the ambassador-at-large for counterterroism; and Ronald Montaperto, dean of academics for the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. A seven-part television series, "TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR MONEY!" sponsored by the University of Hawai'i's Cooperative Extension Service, will be broadcast 8 to 9 p.m. Mondays, beginning tonight, on O'ahu ('Olelo and TCI, Channel 55; GTE Americast, Channel 21), Kaua'i (Ho'ike, Channel 10) and the Big Island (Na Leo, Channel 54). The series will be shown midnight to 1 a.m. Tuesdays for viewers on Maui (MCCTV-12). The entire series will be rebroadcast Fridays, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., on O'ahu and Big Island.
