Nicole Garbin, a 2001 Baldwin High graduate, scored one goal and assisted on another to lead Oregon past Nevada, 2-1, yesterday in a collegiate women's soccer match at Eugene, Ore.

The goal was Garbin's fourth of the season, and her third game-winner tied a four-year-old school record.

"She gave us a real spark, a real lift," Oregon coach Bill Steffen said of the two-time Hawai'i high school Player of the Year.

Garbin's game-winner started from a long pass by defender Angela Romero to Beth Bowler. Bowler quickly tapped the ball to Garbin, who was standing five yards from the goal, and the freshman booted it past goalie Jessica Gregg.

Senior Starr Johnson, a 1998 Punahou School graduate, led the Oregon offense with two shots on goal.

Oregon improved to 3-1-1.
