HPU wins 40th consecutive match

Hawai'i Pacific University outside hitter Roberta Robert proved to be double trouble for the Western New Mexico women's volleyball team.
Robert, of Curitiba, Brazil, had a match-high 23 kills and 31 digs to lead top-ranked HPU to a 30-27, 31-29, 23-30, 30-18 victory at Silver City, N.M.
The Sea Warriors have won 40 consecutive matches, six short of the NCAA Division II record set by Ferris State (Big Rapids, Mich.).
HPU is 12-0 overall this season, 6-0 in the Pacific West Conference. Western New Mexico is 8-8 and 2-2.
Also last night, University of Hawai'i-Hilo (6-8, 1-5) won its first conference match, defeating host Montana State-Billings, (9-6, 2-4), 30-27, 27-30, 30-23, 24-30, 15-13.
