City will run special buses to UH game

TheBus Football Express will operate Saturday for the University of Hawai'i game against Rice at Aloha Stadium.

The Football Express buses will run from 16 locations. Fare is $3 each way. Senior citizen, disabled, monthly and other passes will not be accepted.

GOLF

• Wahine ninth: The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished ninth out of 14 teams in its season opener at the Pioneer Highlands Ranch Intercollegiate yesterday in Denver.

Denver won the team title with a two-day 599 total. Hawai'i shot 620 in the 36-hole event.

Kelly Schaub, of Denver, was medalist at 6-under 138 after a 71 yesterday. Hawai'i's Rene Krause finished tied for 21st with a 9-over 153 after a 77 yesterday.


SAILING

• Lake qualifies: University of Hawai'i freshman Bryan Lake finished second behind Stanford's Dave Kenny at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association Men's Singlehanded Championships at Long Beach, Calif., this past weekend.

Lake, by finishing in the top two, qualified for the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Men's North Singlehanded American Championships at Toronto on Oct. 19-21. He is a member of UH's coed team.
