6-year-old Big Island girl found murdered

Big Island police say a 6-year-old girl was found murdered yesterday in a vacant house in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision of Puna.

The girl was identified as Kauilani Tadeo, who died as the result of blunt force trauma to the head, according to the results of an autopsy conducted today.

The girl was reported missing from her Hawaiian Beaches home at about 6 p.m. Police and fire rescue searchers found her body at 8:30 p.m. in the Opihi Street house located in the same neighborhood where she lived.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the murder or who observed unusual activity yesterday afternoon or evening to call Det. Andrew Burian of the Hilo Criminal Investigation Section at (808) 961-2381 or (808) 935-3311.
