Husband accused in fatal stabbing

A Kalihi woman was fatally injured and her 52-year-old husband was arrested yesterday after an argument during which the man allegedly stabbed his wife to death, police said.

Police and other emergency crews were called at 1:30 p.m. to 724 Bannister St., where they found the 48-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds to her chest and neck, police said.

She was taken to the Queen's Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 3:15 p.m.

Lt. Bill Kato of Honolulu police's homicide division said the woman was found in the master bedroom of the yellow, one-story house.

"Right now, it appears it was a domestic dispute that turned into a stabbing," Kato said.

Police searched the area for the husband. He was arrested a short time later when he drove back to the neighborhood in his Isuzu Trooper.

The suspect was taken to the Kalihi station and transferred to the main station cellblock last night.

Charges have yet to be filed.

Police said the couple had two teenage sons and one young daughter.

Some or all of the children were at home during the incident, because a family member called 911, police said.
