Fun House
Vacuuming happily

By Lorna Saito
Ha'iko, Maui

We read a lot to our daughter, Susan, when she was young. Once, when she was about 3 years old, I was discussing the story of Cinderella with her. I talked about how her wicked stepmother made her do all the chores and how Cinderella had to sweep the whole castle.

At that point, my daughter looked at me and said, "Why didn't she use the vacuum cleaner?"
