A member of various Navy community organizations, she was credited with improving the quality of life for seagoing sailors.

She developed programs in support of sailors, including collection and distribution of books to deploying ships, assisting families of sailors moving to Hawai'i and providing discounts for them at the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts.

She played a key role in redesignating Hawai'i as home port for the USS Missouri and spearheaded the welcoming and commissioning of the USS O'Kane, providing superior hospitality to the ship in its first home port.
