Advertiser Staff

The Radford High School cheerleaders placed second at the AmeriCheer National Championships at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

"It's good to get cheerleading on the map; to be recognized as a sport; and that Hawai'i schools are really competitive," Radford coach Bo Frank said. "It puts Hawai'i on the map."

The Rams, made up of seven members, took second in the small varsity division (16 members and under) in the competition, which was held March 20-25.

It was the first appearance in the championships for Radford.

About 4,000 cheerleaders and 250 teams participated in 40 divisions.
