Home expansion to be discussed
The proposed expansion of David Haig's Wilhelmina Rise home will be discussed at the Kaimuki Neighborhood Board meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Kaimuki Recreation Center, 3521 Wai'alae Ave.
Haig, a board member at Banc-West Corp. and First Hawaiian Bank and a trustee of the Estate of Samuel M. Damon, plans to build an expanded turnaround, an addition, artist's studio/gazebo, deck and tennis court, with landscaping and fencing on a 4,000-square-foot parcel next to his home designated as state conservation land.
Some residents have opposed the expansion, saying parking and traffic during construction would be a problem, and that the expansion would obstruct the view.
A conservation district use application is needed to proceed with the project.

The Kailua Neighborhood Board will hear a brief presentation on a sewer project at its meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kailua District Park multipurpose room.
The city will repair some of the aging system and replace sections along Kainehe Street and Hamakua and Keolu drives. The project is to begin in July.
The city and the contractor, URS Corp., are expected to detail construction hours for the 27-month project.
The board is concerned about the project's traffic and communication plan, as several other projects are expected to start during the construction period, said Kathy Bryant-Hunter, Transportation Committee chairwoman.
