Employees buy printing firm

The owner of Obun Hawaii Group has sold the midsize commercial printing company in Honolulu and its two-story headquarters as part of an employee buyout.
Tokyo-based Obun Printing Co. Inc. has owned the privately held company for 31 years. Terms of the deal, which closed March 25, were not disclosed.
"As new owners of the company, our 40-plus employees have a strong stake in Obun and its future success," said Don Ojiri, Obun Hawaii's president since 1992.
Obun Hawaii, which employees about 40 workers, has developed a niche publishing Japanese-language materials. It also publishes the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii Networking Director and TheBus Guide.
It was founded in 1970 as a joint venture between Obun Printing Co. and Servco Pacific. Obun took full control in 1974.
