Police yesterday arrested Kam K. Williams, 20, at a Waimanalo home on a charge of manslaughter in a Jan. 2, 2001, collision that killed Lorrie-Ann Wiley.
Williams was found hiding in a bedroom, police said.
Kam Williams was arrested on a charge of manslaughter
He was taken to Honolulu District Court, where he appeared before a judge regarding previous convictions for driving while impaired and driving without a license. A warrant was issued last month when he failed to appear in court to show he was complying withconditions of his sentence for those convictions. The hearing was continued to a later date.
Williams, who was unable to post $100,000 bail on the manslaughter charge, remained at the court cellblock until late yesterday and was expected to be transferred to O'ahu Community Correctional Center.
Williams will most likely face arraignment Monday, Williams' attorney Victor Bakke said.
Bakke said he would ask for a reduction in bail or supervisory release for his client, who he said has proven he is not a flight risk because he has remained in the state for 15 months since the accident.
