Opera program for keiki

By Zenaida Serrano Espanol

Parents can expose their little ones to the grandeur of opera at a much smaller scale through Hawaii Opera Theatre's new Opera Reader Program, which starts April 16 at the Hawai'i State Library children's section.

Volunteer storytellers will share opera tales — such as the classic favorites "Cinderella" and "Magic Flute" — at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month throughout the year.

The free program is recommended for children in elementary school and younger. Educators may also book a storytelling session for their schools for $40. For details, call 596-7372, Ext. 18.
