Weddings

Joanne A. Ammerman and Richard M. Smylie were married Feb. 8 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Wailuku, Maui. The bride, now Joanne A. Smylie, formerly of Honolulu, and the groom, formerly of Kailua, live in Hong Kong.

Jessica Kaluhiokalani Eckert, daughter of Douglas and Hannah Eckert of Kane'ohe, and Chad Roque Santos, son of Roque C. and Denise Santos of Kane'ohe, were married Jan. 11 at a courthouse in downtown Honolulu. The bride (Castle High), now Jessica Kaluhiokalani Santos, is a waitress. The groom (Saint Louis School) is a professional baseball player. They have a daughter, Kamalani Kaluhiokalani Santos, 8 months, and they live in Kane'ohe.

Cindy Diane Reidt, daughter of Don and Linda Reidt of Moraga, Calif., and Matthew John Darnell, son of Lou and Donlei Darnell of Kane'ohe, were married Oct. 13 at Windward United Church of Christ. The reception followed at Luana Hills Country Club. The bride (Campolindo High in California), now Cindy Diane Darnell, formerly of Moraga, is a hospital food-service director. The groom (Wurzburg High in Germany), formerly of Kailua, is a senior vice president of a telecommunications company. They live in Honolulu.

Engagements

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Caspelich of Waipi'o Gentry and Linda Iwamoto of Hawai'i Kai and Ronald Iwamoto of Hawai'i Kai have announced the engagement of their children, Johanna Christie Caspelich and Eric Noboru Iwamoto. Caspelich, of Waipi'o Gentry, is a flight attendant. Iwamoto, of Waipi'o Gentry, formerly of Hawai'i Kai, is a bellman. They plan to be wed Aug. 10 in Honolulu.

Teresa Giang and Richard Chow have announced their engagement. Giang, of Honolulu, daughter of Tony and Aisha Giang of 'Ewa Beach, and Chow, of Honolulu, son of Mel and Paula Chow of Hawai'i Kai, plan to be wed May 11 in 'Aiea.
