Hiker finds skull in Kane'ohe

The city medical examiner's office is working to identify the person whose skull was found by a hiker Saturday night in Kane'ohe.

The hiker, 49, came across the skull while hiking near the H-3 Freeway at about 7 p.m., police said.

The case has been referred to the police missing persons detail, which submitted it for forensic tests, said Susan Siu, chief investigator at the Office of the Medical Examiner.

'Opihi picker killed Saturday identified

A man who died Saturday night after he was swept from a rocky shoreline in Hale'iwa while picking 'opihi has been identified as Kenisali Sataua of Salt Lake. He was 51.

Sataua was picking 'opihi with his wife and nephew at about 7:10 p.m. when a wave swept him out to sea. Police said he had slipped and struck his head on the rocks.

Fire officials said the nephew swam out after the man and brought him to shore, where rescue crews tried unsuccessfully to revive him. He was pronounced dead at Wahiawa General Hospital.

Two men rob pizza deliverer

A pizza delivery worker was robbed Friday night while she was stopped at a Salt Lake intersection.

The 22-year-old victim was waiting at the corner of Ala 'Ilima and Ala Napunani streets at 7:09 p.m. when two men approached the car.

One removed the magnetic sign from the Pizza Hut delivery car, police said, while the other stuck what appeared to be a small handgun to the woman's neck.

The robbers told her to leave the car and when she complied, they took cash from her pockets, police said. The woman told detectives they told her to resume driving and then fled on Ala 'Ilima, toward Moanalua High School.

Worker accused of embezzlement

Police are investigating an employee's alleged embezzlement of more than $20,000 from an undisclosed Ala Moana Shopping Center store.

The store managers noted that the suspect's cash register often came up short and placed the cashier under surveillance. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree theft on Friday but then was released pending further investigation.
