The Mana'o Company was named Group of the Year and Pati was named New Artist of the Year. Pati's debut CD, "Nesian," was named Album of the Year.
The Hawai'i Music Awards, a presentation of the Music Foundation of Hawai'i, maintains some traditional recording industry categories but focuses on others not addressed by competing organizations.
Other winners include:
- Hawaiian Contemporary: Horizon's "Island Days."
- Hawaiian Traditional: Blaine Kia's "He Makana O Na Lei."
- Island Music: The Mana'o Company's "Spread a Little Aloha."
- Reggae: Butch Helemano's "The Promised Land."
- Jazz: Herb Ohta and Lyle Ritz's "'Ukulele Duo."
- World Music: Greg & Junko MacDonald's "Pan 2 Paradise."
- Slack Key: Keola Beamer's "Island Born."
- Instrumental: Herb Ohta Jr.'s " 'Ukulele Dream."
- New Age: Sumiko's "Beyond the Universe."
- Adult Contemporary: Daniel Ho's "Finding My Way Home."
- Paniolo: Danny Estocado's "Greatest Hits and Then Some."
- Single: Jake Shimabukuro's "Ehime Maru."
- Inspirational: Chuck Antone Jr.'s "Hoaloha."
- Seasonal: Neos Productions' "Irie Island Christmas."
- Polynesian: Dennis Ah Yek's "Polynesian Style 2."
- Rock: Hawai'i's "Ressurection."
