C-SPAN is offering excerpts from the 3,700 hours of tapes from the Nixon White House, released last week by the National Archives. From January to June 1972, the former president discussed the Vietnam War, his historic trip to China and J. Edgar Hoover's successor at the FBI in telephone conversations. These recordings were produced surreptitiously, without the knowledge of most of the participants, according to the site.
