Hayashi, Ishii capture Pro-Pro tourney

Pearl Country Club's Kevin Hayashi and David Ishii shot a 65 yesterday to capture the Aloha Section PGA Pro-Pro Championship by six strokes at the Ko Olina Golf Club.

Ishii and Hayashi each won $1,500.

The teams of Regan Lee and Beau Yokomoto (66 yesterday) and Kevin Carll (66) and Matt Hall were second at 133.

Jerry Mullen and Mark Takahama (68) and Kirk Nelson and Brian Sasada (66) finished at 134.


BASEBALL

• HPU swept: Jose Montes hit for the cycle, including a two-run homer, to lift Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 24-8 victory over Hawai'i Pacific and a doubleheader sweep at Los Angeles.

In the first game, the Toros scored six runs — including Danny Jacobs' walk-off grand slam — in the seventh inning to defeat the Sea Warriors, 10-9.

CS Dominguez Hills is 27-18-1 and HPU 18-26.

In the second game, Montes doubled in the first, tripled in the second, homered in the third and singled in the fourth. He was replaced in the fifth after scoring four runs and driving in five runs.

HPU's Jonathan Torres went 3-for-4, including a three-run homer and RBI single in the first game.
