UH sweeps two from La. Tech

Sheri Oronoz pitched a three-hitter and hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to lead the University of Hawai'i softball team to a 5-0 victory in the first game of a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep over Louisiana Tech at Ruston, La., yesterday.
UH won the second game, 5-1. The Rainbow Wahine are 29-17 overall and 10-2 in the WAC. Louisiana Tech is 19-16 and 3-10.
In the first game, Oronoz walked four and struck out none in a complete game performance.
Kate Judd had two hits, including a home run to open the fifth inning. Tricia Ramos also had two hits and scored two runs for the Rainbow Wahine.
In the second game, Shannon Tabion pitched a six-hitter, allowing an earned run with two walks and nine strikeouts for the Wahine.
UH second baseman Natalie Gonzales had a two-run single in the second inning.
Gonzales, Judd, Denise Dahlberg and Oronoz each paired hits for the Rainbow Wahine.
