Man sought in Maui sex assault

Maui police are looking for a man believed to have tried to sexually attack a woman in Kahului.

Police said he came to the woman's house early Sunday looking for a man who rents a room from her. He knocked her down and dragged her into the bedroom, where he tried to assault her, police said. She kicked him in the groin and he fled.

He is described as in his 40s with black shoulder-length hair, 5 feet 9 inches, 250 pounds and last seen driving an older model brown Dodge pickup.

BIG ISLAND

Big Isle surprised by power failure

Hawai'i Electric Light Co. officials are trying to figure out what caused a power failure on the Big Island on Saturday.

At 10:43 a.m., without warning, 31 megawatts of HECO's 133-megawatt system were disconnected by Hamakua Energy Partners.

Officials said power was restored to all customers by 12:47 p.m.
