Wendy Abe has been named director of donor services at the Blood Bank of Hawaii. She is responsible for donor recruitment to meet the blood needs of Hawai'i's patients.

Before joining the Blood Bank of Hawaii, Abe was vice president of campaign and community relations for Aloha United Way.

She has a master's degree in public administration from San Francisco State University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.

Also at the Blood Bank:

Roger Murai has been named director of human resources. Murai, who has a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a master's in personnel administration from Central Michigan University, has worked in the hotel industry.

Ellen DiSalvo has been appointed director of laboratory services. She is a member of the American Society of Quality and holds certifications from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a technologist in blood bank, specialist in blood bank and diplomat of laboratory management. She has a bachelor's degree in medical technology and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska.

Dorothy Morris, incoming 2002 president of Planned Parenthood of Hawaii, has announced her slate of officers.

Sharlene Bliss, Bank of Hawaii's vice president of investor relations, as president-elect and treasurer. Lois Magnussen, University of Hawai'i director of student services, secretary.

• The board of directors includes Dana Alden, head of the University of Hawai'i School of Business Administration marketing department; Marjorie Au, a partner in Ashford & Wriston's Honolulu real property section; Vincent De Feo, professor emeritus of UH's John A. Burns School of Medicine; Karen Piltz, researcher for the Land Use Research Foundation of Hawaii.

Also, Audrey Rocha Reed, executive vice president of the J. Walter Cameron Center on Maui; Dr. John Spangler, obstetrician and gynecologist with Straub Clinic & Hospital; Jan Tamura, shareholder in Burke Sakai MCPheeters Bordner Iwanaga & Estes; Elmira Tsang, attorney with Kowen & Walker; Jan Vernon, risk management coordinator for the Hawai'i region of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan; and the Rev. Mike Young, pastor of First Unitarian Church of Honolulu.
