Tonight's Must-See

"THE JOB," 8 and 8:30 p.m., ABC. One of TV's better comedies offers a double shot tonight. The first episode begins when Detective McNeil (Denis Leary) decides his colleague, Frank (Lenny Clarke) is gay. The second half-hour has McNeil getting in trouble, then being forced to vacation in Miami. His work soon intrudes.

Of Note

"The Godfather, Part II" (1974), 5 p.m., TNN. In the sorry history of movie sequels this film — an Oscar-winner for best picture — offers a splendid exception. Director Francis Ford Coppola went back to the beginning, tracing the history of the fictional Corleone family.
