Viloria headlines one of two proposed cards

Advertiser Staff

After one professional boxing card in the last five months in Honolulu, promoters are seeking approval for two in the span of 14 days next month.

Promoter Tom Moffatt has called a press conference for this morning to confirm the return of former Olympian Brian Viloria for a May 17 card at Blaisdell Center Arena. No opponent has been announced for the proposed eight-round flyweight bout.

And Ed Pressley of Hawaii Professional Boxing Inc. has proposed a May show at World Cafe. No headliners have been announced.

The commission is scheduled to meet April 26 to consider contracts and proposed bouts for the cards.

The undefeated Viloria (6-0) hasn't fought here since his professional debut last year at the Hawai'i Convention Center, where he decisioned Ben Jun Escobia.

His last appearance was a March 15 technical knockout of Leonardo Gutierrez in New York.
