As the public relations/marketing assistant for Body & Soul, the fast-paced Honolulu-based fashion and beauty company, Brooke Berrington has access to many of the latest trends. She chose wide-leg jeans and a deconstructed T-shirt for her favorite look of the season.

Q. Why did you choose this look?

A. "I love the peasant blouses that are so popular right now, but I'm a T-shirt-kind-of-girl. This is a compromise. In regard to the jeans, I love the silhouette, and they're so comfortable. We've had tight jeans for so long, and these are a refreshing change. I also think they make me look taller."

Q. What features do you love?

A. "The puckered sleeves and feminine embellishments. I also like the fitted shape and that it's not too boyish. The jeans sit perfectly on my hips, and I love the pintuck down the front seam. I love the vintage look. It's a cross-hatch denim, sand-brushed with a yellow tint that's very subtle."

Q. Where did you first see the trend?

A. "A friend bought a deconstructed T-shirt in L.A. and brought it home and cut it up some more. The idea was so fresh! I saw wide-legged jeans in Lucky magazine."

Q. Where did you find it?

A. "A friend bought me the top in L.A. I bought the jeans at Body & Soul."

Q. Is this your dream item or did you compromise because of cost or availability?

A. "The jeans were my dream item because they fit so well. At any other store they would have been too long and I would have had to alter them. I was so lucky my friend gave me the T-shirt."

Q. What would you wear with it?

A. "A tassel belt, or actually a belt of any kind, works with the jeans. Shoes or boots with a small heel or, for a surfer girl look, you could wear slippers or slides."

Q.Where would you wear it?

A. "To work, dinner or a club."

Q. Where would you never wear it?

A. "Surfing — I'd drown in that denim!"

Q. What's a no-no?

A. "Over-accessorizing. The T-shirt needs very little jewelry because there's so much going on with its embellishments. Anything big and baggy on top would destroy the look of the jeans."
