Crash victim was from Waimanalo

The city medical examiner's office has identified the 24-year-old victim in an accident on Sunday as Lucian Keane IV of Waimanalo.

Keane was killed when his truck hit a tree near 41-479 Kalaniana'ole Highway. Police said the white 1996 Ford Ranger drifted off the road shortly after 2 a.m.

Woman was hurt in fall, doctor says

Police ruled out foul play last night in a case involving a 71-year-old woman found lying on the floor of her Manoa home Tuesday night, with injuries to her lower body.

The woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where she was listed in guarded condition yesterday.

Police had initially opened a burglary investigation. But a doctor who examined the woman, said her injuries — bruises to her stomach and thighs and scrapes on her knees — were from a fall.

Police said there were no signs of foul play and nothing had been taken from the woman's home.

Man in Ka'u arrest taken to O'ahu

A 40-year-old man arrested in a drug raid on a Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision residence was transferred Tuesday to Honolulu, where he was wanted on nine warrants.

In the Friday raid, Kona vice officers with a search warrant arrested Kenneth Kaleikini, a 41-year-old woman and a boy at the Ka'u residence. Pending further investigation into drug, explosives and firearms offenses, police released the boy on Friday and the woman on Saturday.

Officers said they seized drugs including 29 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 59 grams of dried, processed marijuana and 208 marijuana plants during the raid. Various firearms also were found, police said, as well as appliances, tools and other property believed to be stolen.

Escapee turned in by his brother

An escapee from a work furlough program is back in prison yesterday because he was turned in by his brother, an adult corrections officer.

The inmate, 23, was arrested yesterday for the escape.

He had failed to report back to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center last Thursday, police said. The brother spotted him yesterday at Tamarind Park and alerted police.
