Pineapple Run set for Saturday

The annual 10-kilometer Pineapple Run will be held Saturday, starting at 7 a.m. in Wahiawa.

The run loops through the pineapple fields, starting and ending at Ka'ala Elementary School.

Late entry is available for $25 at the Pacific SportsCare office (668 California Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow.

VOLLEYBALL

• Battle on the beach: The Employment Specialists Shootout, featuring men's and women's open doubles play, will be held Sunday at Queen's Surf Beach Sand Box, starting at 9 a.m.

Players will compete for $500 in prize money.

Featured players include Olympians Mike Lambert and Kevin Wong, AVP professional Stein Metzger, former University of Hawai'i players Torry Tukuafu, Troy Hotz, Heidi Ilustre and Andrea Tukuafu, and Hawai'i-Hilo All-American Tanya Fuamatu.

BOXING

• Juniors lace up gloves: The Hawai'i Junior Olympic Boxing Championships will be held Saturday at the Wai'anae Regional Park Gym, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The state's top junior Olympic boxers will compete, with the winners advancing to the National Junior Olympic Championships at the U.S. Olympic Education Center in Marquette, Mich., June 15-24.
