Motorcyclist injured in skid

A 31-year-old Kalihi man was critically injured yesterday after his motorcycle crashed in the westbound lanes of H-1 Freeway, near the Lunalilo off-ramp.

The driver was in the center lane at about 2 a.m. when he lost control of his red 2002 Honda motorcycle, according to investigators, and the bike skidded to the ground. Police said the driver was thrown off and slid on the ground, striking the rear of one car; his motorcycle continued its slide and struck another car.

The driver was wearing a helmet, said investigators, who suspect speed and the wet roadway conditions may have contributed to the accident.
