Family Court recruiting help

WAILUKU, Maui — Maui Family Court is recruiting volunteers to serve as guardians ad litem who represent the best interests of children in abuse or neglect proceedings.

The next training is scheduled for June, with dates to be announced later.

Guardians ad litem are responsible for keeping the court informed about the child and the progress of any services provided to the child's family. Volunteers must be at least 20 years old and able to spend between four and 30 hours a month working on a child's case.

Children are matched to volunteers according to the seriousness of the case and the time a volunteer has available.
