Man dies of heart attack, not traffic accident

KEALAKEHE, Hawai‘i — A 67-year-old man involved in a one-car wreck Friday in Keauhou died of a heart attack, an autopsy confirmed yesterday.

William H. Myers was driving a 1995 Ford sedan west on Kamehameha III Road when he stopped on the road and slumped back in his seat. When a passenger in the car got out to assist, the sedan rolled and struck a stone wall, said acting Sgt. Christopher Gali.

Myers’ death originally was classified as a traffic fatality.

A group of teenagers passing the body at 5:15 p.m. realized he was dead and alerted authorities.

The robber was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 130 pounds, a medium complexion and long black hair; he also had a tattoo reading "TAZ" on his stomach, police said.

A man in his 20s is being sought after he stole a woman's car at gunpoint last night and fled in the car in the Pearl Ridge area.

Police said the man approached the woman and a friend in a Ka'onohi Street parking lot at 10:10 p.m. He allegedly pointed a handgun at her and demanded her car keys.

Sexual assault to be investigated

An 18-year-old man was arrested and released last night pending further investigation into reports from a 15-year-old girl that he had sexually assaulted her April 8 at Wai'anae Gym, 85-471 Farrington Hwy.

The victim first told her mother about the assault, which allegedly occurred at about 2 p.m., but yesterday reported it to officials at Wai'anae High School.
