Grace gets NFL shot with Arizona

Advertiser Staff

Two Kamehameha Schools graduates who played football at the University of Arizona will continue their careers in Arizona, though on different levels.

Steven Grace, a 6-2 1/2, 292-pound center, reached a free-agent contract agreement with the Arizona Cardinals. He was not selected in last weekend's seven-round NFL draft.

Grace also started five games at guard in 2001.

Teammate Makoa Freitas, a 6-3 1/2, 305-pounder, was granted another year of eligibility at the university through a medical hardship appeal because of a football injury in 2000.

Elsewhere:

• Ma'ake Kemoeatu, a 6-4 1/2, 310-pound defensive tackle from Kahuku and the University of Utah, signed a free-agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

• Jerry Togiai, a 6-3, 295-pound nose tackle from Roosevelt and Kansas State, will likely sign with the Atlanta Falcons.

• Faaesea Mailo, a 6-3 1/4, 332-pound offensive lineman from Kahuku and USC, remains unsigned.
