Movie Openings

"The Cat's Meow": When the producer Thomas Ince died (or was killed) on William Randolph Hearst's yacht (or somewhere else) in 1924, rumors swept Hollywood. Peter Bogdanovich crosses movieland gossip with the English country house mystery. Opens tomorrow at Restaurant Row Theatres. (PG-13)

"The Crush": Andie MacDowell is an American headmistress in the Cotswolds, who falls in love with a church organist at least 15 years her junior (Kenny Doughty). Opens tomorrow at Kahala 8-Plex. (R).

"Jason X": The frozen body of Jason is discovered centuries from now and taken onboard a spaceship, where it stars in a low-rent rip-off of the "Alien" pictures. "Y Tu Mama Tambien": On the surface, this is a lighthearted story of two teenage boys who convince a sexy older cousin to join them on a journey to the beach. On another level, this is a journey of affluent characters through the other Mexico, a land of poverty and disappointment. Opens tomorrow at Varsity Twin. (Not rated, but full of sexuality and adult themes.)
