Tonight's Must-See

"The Gathering Storm," 5 p.m., HBO. Here is TV drama at its best — great actors tackle a real-life story that's superbly written and filmed. Albert Finney is stunning as Winston Churchill and Vanessa Redgrave is superb as his wife.

"The Thomas Crown Affair" (1999), 7:30 p.m., NBC. Director John McTiernan wonderfully remade this 1968 movie. Pierce Brosnan is a thief and Rene Russo is an insurance investigator. The result is fun and smart.
