Robbery of tourist foiled in Waikiki
Police are holding a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy who were chased down by witnesses.
The victim, 30, was crossing at the intersection of Kuhio Avenue and Wailina Street at 10:40 p.m. when one of the suspects tried to pull her shopping bag away, police said. The woman held on and fell to the street, suffering abrasions on her arm and head.
Tips sought on Mo'ili'ili carjacking
Police are looking for a man in his 20s who shoved a woman out of her car Tuesday while she was stopped at a light at University Avenue and then drove off in it.
The woman, a 52-year-old Japanese national, was stopped at 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of University and Kapi'olani.
The thief entered the car from the passenger side, opened the driver's-side door and pushed her out. Police said he drove 'ewa on Kapi'olani. The vehicle was recovered Wednesday on Prospect Street.
The man is described as 6 feet tall, 160-180 pounds. He had black, straight, neck-length hair, dark eyes and complexion. He was wearing a green baseball cap backward, a green T-shirt and brown knee-length shorts.

Escaped inmate nabbed in Puna
PAHOA, Hawai'i Puna patrol officers have arrested a 27-year-old inmate who escaped from the Kulani Correctional Facility April 10.
Shayne Kobayashi was picked up at 8:20 a.m. yesterday at a home in Pahoa.
Kobayashi is serving a sentence for sexual assault.
