Advertiser Staff

Mike Cusato, vice president for circulation of The Honolulu Advertiser, has been honored as the top circulation executive of the 97 daily newspapers published by Gannett Co.

The award for 2001 recognizes Cusato's work in making The Advertiser the fastest-growing newspaper in the company, with an average weekday circulation of 152,098, up 38 percent from 2000.

Cusato also was recognized for the circulation department's customer service. A recent readership study found that 94 percent of Advertiser home delivery customers rated their service as either "good" or "excellent."

"Mike Cusato is committed not only to superior customer service and circulation growth, but to serving the community through his involvement in a number of important local organizations," said Mike Fisch, president and publisher of The Advertiser. "We're proud that Mike was recognized as an outstanding leader in the company."

Cusato, 53, joined The Advertiser in 1998 after a career at The Washington Post. He lives with his family in Hawai'i Kai.
