Saved dog answers to 'Hokget'

 •  Chung Chin-po's letter of thanks

By Vicki Viotti

Suddenly it seems clear why Forgea wasn't responding to rescuers calling her by name. They were pronouncing it "For Gay," or something similar, when they should have been calling, "Here, Hokget! Nice girl, Hokget!"

That pronunciation guide comes from Chung Chin-po, the captain of the ill-fated tanker Insiko 1907 and Forgea's owner. Chung wrote to The Advertiser to convey thanks to readers for all the support in efforts to rescue Forgea, abandoned aboard the Insiko when an explosion on the engine room forced the crew's evacuation.

The body of one crew member killed in the explosion remains aboard the Insiko, which is being towed to O'ahu by the ocean tug American Quest. The Coast Guard expects the tug to arrive in Honolulu late this week.
