LEEWARD

Man sought in assault on boy, 14

A first-degree sexual assault and burglary investigation has begun in the case of a man who allegedly attacked a 14-year-old Salt Lake boy who was returning home to his apartment on Saturday.

A man in his 30s is being sought for allegedly forcing his way into the Ala Napunani Street apartment at about 11:30 a.m. and committing the sexual assault there.


HONOLULU

Seven women arrested at hostess clubs

Police said they arrested seven women for prostitution early Friday at two connected hostess clubs, culminating an investigation sparked by a public complaint.

The women, ages 19 to 38, were arrested at 1 a.m. at Crystal Palace and Center Fold, two clubs at 825 Ke'eaumoku St. belonging to the same owner, police said.


South shores may get 10-foot surf

Surf in the 6- to 10-foot range is forecast for south-facing shores on all islands through tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.

The surf is the result of a storm coming up from New Zealand.


Japanese center to honor family

As part of Sunday's Boys' Day Festival at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii will recognize a local family with its first Outstanding Multiple Generations of the Year Award.

Nominations are being accepted. They should include a group photo of the family and ages of the son, his father and grandfather.

If there is a great-grandfather, the age should also be included.

Nominations should also include a one-paragraph statement on family traditions.

Entries should be mailed to Multiple Generations Award, the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, 2454 S. Beretania St., Honolulu, HI, 96826.


WINDWARD

Air traffic heavy today, Thursday

Windward residents can expect increased air traffic today at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i, which will present a joint service "fly by" practice from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

The practice is in preparation for Thursday's change-of-command ceremony at the base for the commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Command.

Residents can expect increased air traffic on that day as well.
