Hilo police name slain woman

Hilo police have identified the victim in Tuesday's homicide case as Gloria Gorospe, 27, of Pepe'ekeo.

The suspect in the case, a 38-year-old man, remained in police cellblock today while police await autopsy results that would establish the cause of death.

The suspect was arrested after he talked with police and directed them to his home on Old Onomea Road, where the victim's body was found.

Driver sought in McCully accident

Police are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that ran a McCully stop sign last night and struck another truck, injuring four men.

The driver fled after the accident, which occurred about 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of Citron and Wiliwili streets.

The truck, a blue 2000 Toyota Tacoma, had been spotted earlier last night outside a known drug house in Waikiki, police said, but the license plate didn't match with any reports of stolen vehicles.

However, in the traffic investigation, the truck was identified as stolen. The three passengers that the driver left behind in the truck were arrested on suspicion of car theft.

The truck, speeding mauka on Wiliwili, passed a stop sign and struck a 1993 green Toyota pickup truck with four occupants. The truck then spun around before stopping, and two men sitting in the truck bed, as well as the driver, were thrown from the vehicle.

All four men were taken to The Queen's Medical Center; one, 23, was treated and released. One man, whose age is unknown, was listed this morning in guarded condition. A 22-year-old man remains in critical condition today, and a 28-year-old man was listed in fair condition.

The occupants of the stolen truck were not seriously injured, police said.
