To the tune of "Hello, Dolly!" (retitled "Hello, Vicky," with new lyrics by Sharon R. Weiner), the state's first lady, Vicky Cayetano, was toasted as Hawai'i's Distinguished Citizen in a dinner gala Tuesday night at the Sheraton Waikiki hotel.
A total of $526,100 was raised from the event, sponsored by the Aloha Council Boy Scouts of America.
Cayetano, the first woman so honored, was serenaded by the Three Tin Ears, a take-off on the Three Tenors, with crooners Jimmy Borges, Jim Nabors, and surprise! Gov. Ben Cayetano.
"The governor held his own he was very good," said Borges.
