Tube Notes

Tonight's Must-See

"Eraser" (1996), 8 and 10:30 p.m., TNT; or "True Lies" (1994), 6 and 10 p.m., A&E Someday cable might simply have an all-Schwarzenegger channel. It will be all-Arnold, all the time with lots of things exploding. Until then, however, we'll have to settle for days like this with two movies crossing paths on cable. "Eraser" has your standard action plot. A federal marshal (Schwarzenegger) is in charge of a witness (Vanessa L. Williams). Soon, people are trying to kill them both.

"True Lies," by comparison, manages to sprinkle in some comedy. Schwarzenegger's wife (Jamie Lee Curtis) thinks she's married to a mild-mannered computer salesman. Then she gets wrapped up in one of his perilous secret-agent adventures. There are some sight gags along the way. "True Lies" may be one of the only movies to have a horse in an elevator and a plane wedged into a building. Still, it also works well as an action film and was directed by James Cameron who has shown — from "Terminator" to "Titanic" — how a movie should look and feel.

Of Note

"Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993), 5 and 8:30 p.m., Fx. Robin Williams stars in this box-office hit about a divorced guy who disguises himself as a nanny to be closer to his kids.
