Sprint champ will lead camp

The Speed Development Camp, headed by sprint champion Kelsey Nakanelua and designed to improve speed for numerous sports, is Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mililani Track.

The fee is $25 and participants can attend either one or both days. If attending both days, Aug. 4 will be a specific workout designed for the participant. Participants can also preregister by e-mail for $20.

Miano camp: The Rich Miano Speed and Quickness Clinic is scheduled Sunday at St. Louis School's athletic field.

For the $25 entry fee, each participant receives a T-shirt, Jambo Juice coupons and special instruction from Miano, who played 12 years in the National Football League, Hawai'i strength coach Mel deLaura and former University of Hawai'i Wahine basketball player Nani Cockett.

There are two sessions: 9 a.m. to noon for ages 9-12, and 2 to 5 p.m. for 13 and older.
