Meeting to draw 8,000 doctors

Advertiser Staff

The National Medical Association is holding its annual meeting at the Hawai'i Convention Center this week, bringing an estimated 8,000 visitors who could spend more than $15 million.

Based in Washington, DC, the association is the nation's largest and oldest African-American medical organization. It represents the interests of more than 25,000 African-American physicians.

Its first Hawai'i meeting took place in 1997, and the group has already agreed to hold its 2007 convention in the Islands.
