The Hawaiian Humane Society

The Hawaiian Humane Society offers many services for all types of animals. Call 946-2187 and the extensions listed below.

Adoptions: Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and other companion animals are available for adoption every day; Pet Hotline (updated daily), ext. 780.

Animal intake and lost and found animals: 24-hour service for people who have found a lost animal or who are unable to keep their own pet; ext. 280.

Animal-related problems and cruelty investigations: Help in resolving animal-related issues, investigations of animal-related law violations; ext. 280.

Animal rescues: Animal emergencies handled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; ext. 285.

Dog-bite prevention: Free workshops for businesses and community organizations; ext. 222.

Donations: Contribute money, used automobiles and items from a "wish list"; ext. 221.

Euthanasia: A humane alternative for pets that are very old or sick, (fee for service); ext. 285.

Feral cat program: Free cat sterilization for registered cat colony caretakers; ext. 285.

Foster care: Special care for homeless animals that are too young to be adopted, the pets of people who are hospitalized or who are temporarily unable to provide full care for their companion animal; ext. 285.

Humane education: An extensive series of programs for teachers and students through high school; ext. 214.

Humane animal traps: Borrow to capture stray dogs or cats; ext. 285.

Identification: Dog licenses and cat ID tags are available; ext. 227. List your pet microchip ID for free; ext. 0.

Information on pet behavior, training: Brochures to solve a variety of problem behaviors; ext. 223.

Neuter Now: Information about certificates for low-cost sterilization; ext. 227.

Pet Loss Support Group: Monthly meetings for people grieving the death of a pet; ext. 217.

Pet visitation: Volunteers and their pets bring joy to people in hospitals, nursing homes and other settings; ext. 217.

Pets In Housing: Promotes the successful integration of pets into more homes; includes guidelines, sample forms, available rentals listing; ext. 222.

Volunteer program: Committed, caring people volunteer their time, talent, energy, and love on behalf of animals; ext. 216.

The police have taken over nuisance complaints, effective Aug. 1. For complaints of excessive animal noise, dial 911.
