Tonight's Must-See

"Monday Night Football," 6:30 p.m., ABC. The network that created the three-man booth is down to two. Gone are comedian Dennis Miller — "that was a noble experiment," says play-by-play man Al Michaels — and analyst Dan Fouts. Replacing both is John Madden. "When you have John Madden and Al Michaels, I think you have everything you need," said producer Fred Gaudelli. Also gone is Eric Dickerson. Melissa Stark will cover both sidelines. The new crew starts tonight with the Hall of Fame Game, in Canton, Ohio. The New York Giants face the new Houston Texans.

Of Note

"Lingo" premiere, 1:30 p.m., Game Show Network. This game seems simple. Duos guess a five-letter word. Still, many viewers will be fascinated even shouting out the answers.

"Basic Training," 5:30 p.m., History Channel. Michelle Boatner says she was having a bad day at the office when she went to the Army recruiter's office during the noon hour and enlisted. Now this sheltered person from Oklahoma suburbia is one of six recruits traced in this documentary series.
