12-year-old in critical condition

A 12-year-old boy injured in a head-on collision on Kunia Road Saturday remained in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center yesterday.

Police said a Suzuki SUV and a Honda sedan collided head-on around 9:30 a.m. about a half-mile north of the Del Monte packing plant on Kunia Road.

The 12-year-old, a passenger in the Honda, was the most seriously injured of six persons hurt in the crash. One was released, but four others remained hospitalized in fair condition yesterday.


Damage by 'Aiea fire at $170,000

The 'Aiea fire that left six people homeless Saturday night caused $170,000 in damage to three homes on Lilikoi Place, HFD investigators said yesterday.

The damage to the 99-124A Lilikoi Place home is placed at $85,000, HFD Capt. Kenison Tejada said.

An adjoining home, at 104A Lilikoi Place, sustained $80,000 of damage, he said.

A third residence, at 104C Lilikoi Place, sustained $5,000 of damage.

The cause of the 7:40 p.m. fire remained under investigation yesterday.
