HECO executive on Hoku board

Hawai'i-based Hoku Scientific Inc. said yesterday that Karl Stahlkopf, senior vice president for energy solutions at Hawaiian Electric Co., has joined the company's board of directors.

At HECO, Stahlkopf is responsible for the development and implementation of alternative energy technologies. Prior to joining HECO, Stahlkopf served as vice president of power delivery at the Electric Power Research Institute, a Palo-Alto-based nonprofit research consortium for the electric utility industry.

Hoku Scientific is working on proprietary hydrogen fuel cell technologies for transportation, commercial, residential and portable applications.
