Tickets go fast as sales to general public begin today

Advertiser Staff

The HHSAA/First Hawaiian Bank Football Classic is expected to threaten the Hawai'i attendance record for a high school game — 32,812 for the 1978 O'ahu Prep Bowl between Kamehameha and Wai'anae.

Advance tickets went on sale last month and sales so far have been brisk. As a presenting sponsor, The Honolulu Advertiser is purchasing more than 3,000 tickets to be distributed to all O'ahu high school varsity and junior varsity players and coaches.

Beginning today, tickets will be sold to the general public through Ticket Plus and Aloha Stadium. Coca-Cola, another presenting sponsor, is promoting a $5 discount coupon on more than 6 million can panels of Coca-Cola Classic, Diet Coke and Sprite.

All seats are reserved, and are good for both games on Sept. 21.

Ticket Plus is selling tickets at all of its outlets, and Charge by Phone at 526-4400 or (877) 750-440.

The Aloha Stadium box office is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and tickets also may be purchased via the Aloha Stadium charge line by calling 484-1122 (800-291-3999 from the Neighbor Islands) during those same hours.

There are five levels of ticket prices for the games matching St. Louis vs. De La Salle and Kahuku vs. Long Beach Poly:

• Mauka and makai sidelines (orange, blue and brown levels) — $24

• Mauka and makai sidelines (red and yellow levels) — $19

• St. Louis and Kahuku sections — St. Louis (FF-KK, orange and blue levels), Kahuku (F-K, orange and blue levels) seats available for $17 through Aug. 15, while supplies last.
