Cheap Tickets veteran named travel CEO

Advertiser Staff

Sam E. Galeotos, the former president of Honolulu-based Cheap Tickets Inc., has been named president and CEO of Galileo International Inc., an electronic-reservations system used by travel agents.

Galileo and Cheap Tickets were bought in October by New York-based Cendant Corp., the owner of Avis rental car company, Days Inn and Century 21. Galeotos joined Cendant in October as CEO for strategic distribution and travel services.

The move expands Galeotos' role, the company said. The 44-year-old executive will oversee Cendant's travel agency operations, hotel distribution and services businesses.

Analysts have said Galileo is a key component in Cendant's strategy of boosting revenue by cross selling vacation packages and its services to consumers.
