Bottler's owner reports gains

AMCON Distributing Co. of Omaha, Neb., which bought Hawaiian Natural Water Co. in December, said its net income rose to $842,593, or 26 cents a share, in the quarter ended June 30 from $44,618, or 2 cents a share, a year ago. Sales were up 43 percent at $218.7 million.

The company bottles natural spring water under the Hawaiian Springs label. An upgrade of a Big Island bottling plant will increase capacity and sales starting this quarter, the company said.


Hawaii National fills board seat

Robert Lees, the executive adviser for Asia Pacific at KPMG Consulting Inc., has been appointed to the board of Hawaii National Bank.

Before joining KPMG this year, Lees was secretary-general of the Pacific Basin Economic Council.
